I have a little bit different take on it though. I see it as a fun thing for fans, and for TPTB. If they went to the trouble of hiding things in the show, shouldn't we want to find them?

FYI, there were way more &lt;a href="http://eastereggs.fringetelevision.com/search/label/Episode%20101" rel="nofollow"&gt;Easter eggs in the Fringe Pilot&lt;/a&gt;, than just the MD plane engine.

The PEN ROSE Rebus, for example,  turned out to be a solid hint for the second episode (Dr. Penrose). Of course, not everything is a clue, and I'll admit, some people seem to think everything is a clue.</description>
