CLOVERFIELD: “Hud” interview

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008

If you’ve seen the movie, then you know that one of the most unforgettable characters was someone you barely saw at all - and I ain’t talking about the MONSTER. In fact, I think the big C-Field boogity boogity was on screen more than Hud was. SciFiWire has an interview with T.J. Miller up, the voice behind the camcorder (a/k/a Tomja’s HERO).

;)

CLOVERFIELD: Matt Reeves Interview

Sunday, January 20th, 2008

Really, really detailed interview with Matt Reeves can be found HERE, over at io9.com. Totally techno-geek stuff, explaining the hows and the whys about the evolution of the story, when he got involved, and the filming process itself.

SPOILERS, obviously. Thanks to Carencey for the linkage.

LOST: Foxy talks Season 4

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

There is a video interview with Matthew Fox over at EW.com where he looks very very pretty.

Oh, and I guess he talks about Season 4 as well. I didn’t listen, but ASSUME there are spoilery bits.

Trek XI Sound Bites

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

SciFiWire has a small article with some sound bites about the new Star Trek movie from Karl Urban (LOTR, The Bourne Supremacy). No spoilery stuff - mainly just stating that JJ and the writers have stayed true to TOS and the characters.

Urban has been cast to play Bones in the movie.

More Burky - More CLOVERFIELD

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Let me first say that it annoys me to no end when they split up an interview just so they can post snippets of it for a friggin’ week [/rant]

*sigh*

Okay, with that said, JJ’s right hand man (aka Bryan Burk) talks more about CLOVERFIELD in this SciFiWire interview. This bit is mainly about the name of the movie and the added pressure due to the mega-buzz for the movie.

CLOVERFIELD - And so it begins…

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Finally, what we have all been (im)patiently waiting on - PRESS interviews about CLOVERFIELD!! ;) Sorry, couldn’t resist. It’s one month and one day from being released, so now seems to be the official “floodgate” mark.

/Film posted THIS BREAKDOWN of interview points with CLOVERFIELD director Matt Reeves.

My favorite part has to do with the “It’s a lion!” misnomer:

At the last minute, when we were shooting the trailer, we wanted people to know - ’cause we hadn’t created the monster yet - that it was a giant monster movie, we wanted a tease of that. I jumped to the microphone and said the line, “I saw it! It’s alive! It’s huge!” And one of the most amusing things is I had come home and someone on the web had taken that section and started to do an analysis on it and thought I said, “It was a lion.” The way I speak was too fast sometimes and they couldn’t make it out.

C’mon…I KNOW you are laughing your ass off right now.

Burky talks CLOVERFIELD

Monday, December 17th, 2007

If there is one person outside of JJ Abrams that knows what the hell all this CLOVERFIELD business is all about - it would be Bryan Burk. And hey, look at that - SciFiWire figured that out, too! Read the interview HERE, taking special note of when JJ came up with the idea.

Here is one snippet from the article:

“It’s an entirely original story and monster,” Burk, a producing partner with Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams, said in an interview in November. “There’s no tie-in to any of our other projects quite yet. We’re obviously fans of the great monster movies. I remember when we were starting Lost, and we had references in it to all our favorite things, be it Jaws or Alien, and this feels like this is the same thing. I don’t think it feels like any other movie you have seen before, but we were definitely inspired by a lot of our favorite films.”

Ah yes, JJ and Co. are quite fond of the hommaging of their favorite movies. Also, for someone who HATES to do interviews, I think Burky does a fine job in this one.

Is it 01-18-08 yet?

Some “Star Trek” movie details

Monday, December 17th, 2007

SciFiWire interviewed Bob Orci, co-writer of the forthcoming new Star Trek movie, and managed to squeeze a few details out of him. Nothing I would consider very spoilery, but he does give some interesting info about the development of the story they chose to tell.

Oh, and I take his “Next, Next Generation” comment as an Alias shoutout - any Marshall lovers in the EPM audience will get why ;)

Interview with William Mapother

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

I know I’ve been scarce lately, but it’s been for a good reason — I’ve been writing some stuff for BuddyTV, and it has been taking the little bit of free time that I have.

The good news is that as part of this gig, I recently got the splendid opportunity to interview William Mapother, the never-dead-as-you-think Ethan Rom on LOST. Click the link below to catch both the audio and a transcript of the interview.

Hope y’all are having a summer full of LOST theories ;)

An end of LOST promise and more from Darlton

Thursday, June 14th, 2007

There were a lot of television showrunners and writers commenting on the series finale of The Sopranos, which caused quite a controversy with its “fade-to-black” non-ending. Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse made a promise to LOST fans that they won’t do that to us.

Quotes from the article:

“Obviously, we can’t wait to the 48th hour to say, ‘Here are all the mysteries of the show,’ ” Lindelof said. But Cuse also noted the reality of the sometimes vociferous and heavily engaged viewership of the show…

“I’m not sure there is any ending that will satisfy everyone,” Cuse said. “Our hope is that the ending will be … the logical conclusion of the story.”

I’m okay with that, but I’m sure that they have set themselves up, much like The Sopranos did, to tick off some boisterous sect of fans due to the greater-than-reasonably-legitimate expectations the show has garnered.

The article goes on to quote the Darlton boys on plans for the hiatus — those long ago promised “mobisodes” are set to finally appear this Fall, though not in the format they were originally presented in. Darlton said they’ve learned their lesson from “Bad Twin” and Lostaway Barbie and Ken. Good on them.

No comments on the S3 finale though. In case you are not aware, Lost Labs has issued a moratorium on talking about just what the heck we saw and what it all means. The moratorium will be lifted at San Diego Comic Con.

Doc’s Q&A with Darlton

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

It’s a good thing that Doc Jensen is married and I am married or else there would be some serious proposing going on ;) I’m going to have to give him a category now, since I post his articles so much…

Doc asks EVERY QUESTION that I had in my head or had read elsewhere in conjunction with ABC’s announcement regarding LOST ending in 2010 — directly to Damon and Carlton — and THEY ANSWER (almost) EVERY ONE. Run, don’t walk. Vague spoilers, but y’all can handle it.

Noteworthy phrase:

“Rattlesnake in a mailbox”

All about Locke…

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

The most indepth article on Locke you’ve ever read (which includes heavy doses of quotes from TOQ, Damon and Carlton, as well).

**Still playing catch up, but you CAN’T miss this article!**

Trekking through the stars…

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Oh lookie here! An actual article on “Star Trek” that I feel confident in posting! Such a rarity ;)

The Dynamic Duo…who I guess you guys know better as Bob Orci & Alex Kurtzman gave an exclusive interview to MTV about the Star Trek movie. Of course, they really don’t give any plot details, and answered most of the interviewer’s questions (hilariously) with the answer “Really, who can say?” *snort* Also, nice to know that Bob Orci may actually be geekier than his brother Rick — something I did not think possible.

*runs*

WIRED interview with JJ

Monday, April 16th, 2007

This interview with JJ Abrams by WIRED is over a month old, and I apologize. I’m weeding through my inbox to try and make sure I post the interviews and articles that shouldn’t be missed. Bear with me :)

In this interview, JJ talks a tiny bit about Trek, his kids, his influences (Rod Sterling and Aristotle, if you’re curious), LOST, and The Dark Tower.

Kristin visits LOST set

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Love her or hate her, Kristin Veitch from E! got herself an exclusive visit to the set of Lost in Hawaii. She is going to be posting vid clips of her adventures and interviews every Wednesday for the next three weeks on E!Online. She does warn that there will be spoilers!
