IGN managed to tackle the blur known as J.J. Abrams this week and get some questions answered about his Star Trek movie (i.e., the movie will still be done by Christmas - it was Paramount that made the decision to delay the release until May) and the continued swirling rumors around a sequel to Cloverfield (i.e., JJ would rather do a new and different movie with Matt Reeves and Drew Goddard rather than a sequel).
You can find the interview HERE.

According to this article in Variety, Matt Reeves, JJ Abrams, and Drew Goddard are in talks with Paramount to develop a sequel to CLOVERFIELD.
Sooooo…how long before the viral marketing for “CLOVERFIELD II: Electric Bugaloo” starts up? A week? Two?

It is a RARE occurrence for me to find an interview with the one, the only - Bryan Burk - that covers stuff I haven’t heard him talk about before. Well, LOOKIE HERE - I actually found one. Burky talks about CLOVERFIELD, but he also talks about his love for Star Wars and how he came to meet and become best friends with JJ and Matt. SOOOO worth the read.
Go. Now. Read it.
ETA: BIG THANKS to my pal Grant for sending me the link. NEVER ASSUME I HAVE SEEN EVERYTHING!!! That goes for all of you. Me busy girl these days. I miss a LOT

I was doing a phone interview last night and I was asked what an “Easter Egg” is. I actually had to stop for a moment - the realization that there are still people in the world who are unfamiliar with Easter Eggs was a bit startling for me. But then again, not everyone has been immersed in Bad Robotland for the past five years like I have. Weird.
Oh, I am posting this to share this piece from SciFiWire with Matt Reeves. The question is - am I more amused that Reeves was so coy about the Easter Eggs that CLOVERFIELD fans have been picking apart on the internet…or by the thought that the interviewer actually thought he would get a straight answer? Hmmm…
***SPOILER WARNING!!!*** — There is mention of specific scenes from the movie in this article.

In case you hadn’t heard, CLOVERFIELD’s opening weekend is the best January opening EVAH!! There will be no living with those BR folks now…
TEASING! HUGE congrats to JJ, Burky, the Ultimate Drew, Matt Reeves and my buddy Dave Baronoff (who neglected to tell me he had an Associate Producer credit for the movie - w00t!). I’ll be posting my thoughts on the movie soon.

Really, really detailed interview with Matt Reeves can be found HERE, over at io9.com. Totally techno-geek stuff, explaining the hows and the whys about the evolution of the story, when he got involved, and the filming process itself.
SPOILERS, obviously. Thanks to Carencey for the linkage.

I know everyone missed the red carpet at the Golden Globes, so to make up for the lack of glitz and glamour, CLOVERFIELD threw a helluva party last night. Go check out these pics from the premiere. Thanks to my buddy q for finding them over at IESB.net.
For any M.U.D. members checking out the pics, THANK GOD Goddard finally cut his hair
For the Trekkies ~ looks like the entire cast of the new movie was there.

Crave Online has posted a bunch of new photos from CLOVERFIELD, including some behind-the-scenes shots. My fave is below:

That’s JJ squatting on the left, Matt Reeves standing in the center, and Burky squatting on the right. Some of the photos and info at Crave are spoilery, but no shots of the monster
The viewing of the completed film for cast and crew was yesterday, and I have been told that it was something truly special to see. I can’t wait to see it!!! The taunting has been merciless.

Came across this article from the London Times about the build up of hype for CLOVERFIELD. It also gives the release date for the UK, which is February 1, 2008.
Thanks to my buddy q for the heads up

Finally, what we have all been (im)patiently waiting on - PRESS interviews about CLOVERFIELD!!
Sorry, couldn’t resist. It’s one month and one day from being released, so now seems to be the official “floodgate” mark.
/Film posted THIS BREAKDOWN of interview points with CLOVERFIELD director Matt Reeves.
My favorite part has to do with the “It’s a lion!” misnomer:
At the last minute, when we were shooting the trailer, we wanted people to know - ’cause we hadn’t created the monster yet - that it was a giant monster movie, we wanted a tease of that. I jumped to the microphone and said the line, “I saw it! It’s alive! It’s huge!” And one of the most amusing things is I had come home and someone on the web had taken that section and started to do an analysis on it and thought I said, “It was a lion.” The way I speak was too fast sometimes and they couldn’t make it out.
C’mon…I KNOW you are laughing your ass off right now.
