Vartan to star in ABC drama pilot

Monday, January 29th, 2007

According to Reuters and various other trade mags, Michael Vartan has been cast in an ABC drama pilot that has yet to be named. In a nutshell, the show is “about four high-powered CEOs or CEOs-to-be who are all friends. Vartan will play the new CEO of a large corporation who is described as the moral center of the show. ”

SpyDaddy gets another TV gig

Wednesday, January 24th, 2007

Anyone else having serious SpyDaddy withdrawals? Well, have no fear — Papa’s got a brand new bag…er, TV show. Victor Garber has been cast in the ABC pilot Eli Stone, which also will star Jonny Lee Miller (which made the geek in me *squee* because ZOMG — Crash Override/Zero Cool!!). The premise sounds interesting, so hopefully ABC will pick it up.

Javi tapped to adapt “Couriers” for big screen

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

From this Hollywood Reporter article:

Rogue Pictures and Intrepid Pictures have picked up the movie rights to “Couriers,” a series of action graphic novels, and have set writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach to adapt.

Written by Brian Wood and illustrated by Rob G, the series follows the adventures of two gun-toting mercenary couriers named Moustafa and Special who take on jobs other couriers do not, such as intelligence, large cash transfers, protection, assassinations and blockade-running.

Awesome news for the Javiminions ;)

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

JJ and his Bad Robot shingle are developing a medical drama pilot for HBO. It will be based on the Jerome Groopman book “The Anatomy of Hope.”

New project for Maggie

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

Maggie Grace has signed on to star in the movie adaptation of the book “The Jane Austen Book Club.” Personally, I didn’t care for the book, but it will be good to see Maggie on the big screen.

Review of “Catch and Release”

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

There is a review of Jennifer Garner’s movie “Catch and Release” over at Cinematical. It’s kind of a wishy-washy review — she doesn’t necessarily RAVE about the movie, but she doesn’t RANT either. Pick a side, sweetie.

The Futon Critic interviews Ken Olin

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

Catch up with former Alias exec prod and director Ken Olin in this interview with The Futon Critic’s Brian Ford Sullivan. Not quite as good as the Greg Grunberg interview, but it’s still worth the read.

Fandoms COLLIDE

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

***SPOILER WARNING!!*** If you are a Battlestar Galactica fan who prefers to remain 100% spoiler-free (including casting spoilers) then STOP READING!!

There. I hope that was enough warning, because I don’t feel like cutting this one. Either in one of David Eick’s BSG Video Blogs or on one of the podcasts that Ron Moore does, they mentioned that they were in negotiations with a former Alias actor to come onto the show. Well, while watching the October 11th video blog (that I had somehow missed last week), the actor was revealed: Carl Lumbly!!

I cannot tell you how jazzed I am that two of my BIGGEST fandoms have collided. I ADORE Carl and was just wondering last week if he had anything new coming up. It is hard to tell from the video blog, but it seems like his BSG character, “Bulldog” (a pilot), may be a recurring character. Regardless, I can’t wait to see him on my TV again :D

“October Road” given the go-ahead

Monday, October 16th, 2006

Former Alias writers, Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec, have received a 6-episode order for their show October Road by ABC. Production starts on October 30th, and it sounds like it is being looked at to be a mid-season replacement.

Javi interviewed by ComicBookResources

Friday, October 13th, 2006

Word travels fast obviously :) ComicBookResources has a great interview with Javier Grillo-Marxuach about the upcoming Classic Battlestar Galactica comic book mini-series that he is writing. In true Javi-fashion, it is both entertaining and informative. What a guy ;)

Kevin Weisman interviewed by Moviehole

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

The best part of this interview with Kevin Weisman (Marshall from Alias)? Finding out that Alias is still airing in Australia. *sniff* I miss Alias.

Moviehole asked Kevin about Alias, “Clerks 2″ and even teasingly about getting a role in JJ’s next big project — The-Sequel-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named :)

More JGM media whoredom ;)

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Oops! I almost forgot. It was finally officially announced that Javi won’t just be writing The Middle Man comics — he has been signed on to write a “new miniseries of comic books based on the classic 1970s Battlestar Galactica show.” Can you say…*SQUEE*?

I should note that Sci Fi Wire did get one part of his resume wrong — he never wrote or produced for Alias. But the quote they posted from him is 100% Javi.

*sigh* I miss him :(

“Medium” coming back early…?

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC’s Medium will be returning to the schedule mid-November, rather than in January. Though still not confirmed by NBC, HR says it will occupy the 10 pm Wednesday night that Kidnapped (which has had poor ratings) has been airing in.

And WHY, you may ask yourself, do I care about the return of Medium? Well, cuz we love our BR alumni here at the EPM blog, and one of my FAVORITE PEOPLE (PERIOD) has penned the season opener for MediumJavier Grillo-Marxuach (aka former LOST writer and revealed recently to be the elusive “DJ Dan” of The Lost Experience).

New movie project for Vartan

Monday, October 9th, 2006

FINALLY! I mean, I know he has that ‘gator movie coming out (”Rogue”), but I had not heard of anything else that Michael Vartan was working on, until now. He has signed on to the indie film “Jolene”. Check out the article for details.

“Heroes” gets full season pick up

Friday, October 6th, 2006

It looks like the Ratings Gods have shined down on Heroes, thus securing a full season pick up from NBC.

Congrats on Felicity, Alias, Lost and M:i:III alum, Greg Grunberg, who stars with an ensemble cast!
