TV Squad Review of WAB S2 Premiere

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

Thank goodness I’m not the only one who really enjoyed the Season 2 premiere of What about Brian. Jonathan Toomey over at TV Squad gave it a pretty solid review as well. So far it looks like the changes that were made are making the right difference.

Michael Apted directing a WAB episode?

Friday, October 6th, 2006

It’s amazing what you can find with Google Alerts. For instance, in this interview with Michael Apted, I found the following tidbit:

So now that you’re off the hook for another seven years, what’s on your plate for the near future? What do you have coming up?

MA: I’ve got a movie coming out in February about the anti-slave trade movement. That’s a feature film called Amazing Grace. I just delivered the official DVD of the World Cup. I’ve got another documentary about football that’s nearly done. I’ve just done a TV episode of my wife’s show, What about Brian? Also, I’ve just finished the sequel to Married in America. I don’t know when that’s coming out — I think in February of this coming year.

Wha’? You might not recognize Apted’s name, but take a glimpse at his IMDB, and you’re sure to go ZOMG!! Oh, and after a little digging, I figured out that his wife is none other than Dana Stevens, creator, exec prod and writer for WAB.

No idea what episode he may be directing (NO other news source has picked this up yet), but I’ll let y’all know once I find out :D

More from JJ’s press conference call

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

Colin Mahan over at TV.com also covered the JJ conference call from a couple of days ago in this article. He mentions some stuff I’ve already posted about, but he does have some new quotes from JJ and has some What about Brian bits as well. I like this part:

When asked if people read what they want to read into his shows, the prolific creator agreed.

“There’s no question,” he (JJ) asserted. “I think that with anything that is analyzed, people will discover things that sometimes were intended and other times were an absolute accident.”

AGAIN with the misspelling of Damon’s last name though. Just one “F” — right Allie? ;)
