Happy Birthday Burky!
Sunday, December 30th, 2007I must take a moment to wish the happiest of birthdays to the Man, the Myth, the LEGEND…Lost Executive Producer, Bryan Burk. He’s the hardest working producer in Hollywood and one of the NICEST GUYS ON THE PLANET. All of my amazing experiences in the LOST fandom can be traced back to three years ago when I started his fanclub. I was then, am now, and will ever be…Burky Babe #1
Happy Birthday, Bry…and get some sleep for goodness sake!

Trek XI Sound Bites
Wednesday, December 26th, 2007SciFiWire has a small article with some sound bites about the new Star Trek movie from Karl Urban (LOTR, The Bourne Supremacy). No spoilery stuff - mainly just stating that JJ and the writers have stayed true to TOS and the characters.
Urban has been cast to play Bones in the movie.

DDK and Harold’s Tribute to the Troops: STAY STRONG
Thursday, December 20th, 2007Daniel Dae Kim posted the following message and video to his MySpace:
Here’s the video that I’ve been working on with Harold for his song, “Stay Strong.” It’s a thank you card for the troops and their service to our country. It was a labor of love, and everyone involved in the making of the video volunteered their services.
Regardless of how you feel about the war, I hope you’ll agree that our troops deserve our support, especially during this special time of year.
Dharma Drop Makes the Trib
Wednesday, December 19th, 2007Awwww…I’m so proud of those fabulous Fuselagers who have been putting together the Dharma Drops for LOST’s striking writers. The Big Red Box O’Treats (with the SUPER COOL “Pencil Station” Dharma logo on it) even garnered a mention and a pic in Maureen Ryan’s blog for the Chicago Tribune. Check out the blurb below:
Writers are getting a lot of exercise on the picket line (they are required to picket for 12 hours per week, though there is a vacation break that starts Wednesday). But they’re also getting a lot of treats. “I thought I’d lose more weight,” film scribe Tomas Romero said. But with members of the public and strike supporters bringing by doughnuts, smoothies, sandwiches, cookies and other treats, it’s hard to slim down. Individual shows have been getting goodies from their fans: “Lost” obsessives delivered an elaborate box of full of individually wrapped care packages to that show’s picketing location. The box came complete with a “Lost”-centric strike logo – the Dharma Initiative logo with a pencil in the middle.
Props to Caren, Cathy, the Collective, Sam G and all the Lostkateers who contributed to the Dharma Drops. Check THIS POST for future Dharma Drops and how you can help support LOST Labs during this difficult time.
New LOST S4 Trailer - “Holy Buckets!”
Tuesday, December 18th, 2007Again I say - “HOLY BUCKETS!!” (tm quillons) Okay, I have seriously been trying to keep myself as “spoiler-free” as possible, so I watched this trailer WITHOUT SOUND - and I still feel spoiled. But in a VERY GOOD WAY. I got the word last night that we will be getting at least eight episodes (I never believe the press - they’ll say anything - I waited for “official” confirmation on the episode total, ifyouknowwhatimean) - and based on what I saw, we are once again in for a hella ride. See the SPOILERY promo below:
More Burky - More CLOVERFIELD
Tuesday, December 18th, 2007Let me first say that it annoys me to no end when they split up an interview just so they can post snippets of it for a friggin’ week [/rant]
*sigh*
Okay, with that said, JJ’s right hand man (aka Bryan Burk) talks more about CLOVERFIELD in this SciFiWire interview. This bit is mainly about the name of the movie and the added pressure due to the mega-buzz for the movie.
CLOVERFIELD - And so it begins…
Monday, December 17th, 2007Finally, what we have all been (im)patiently waiting on - PRESS interviews about CLOVERFIELD!!
Sorry, couldn’t resist. It’s one month and one day from being released, so now seems to be the official “floodgate” mark.
/Film posted THIS BREAKDOWN of interview points with CLOVERFIELD director Matt Reeves.
My favorite part has to do with the “It’s a lion!” misnomer:
At the last minute, when we were shooting the trailer, we wanted people to know - ’cause we hadn’t created the monster yet - that it was a giant monster movie, we wanted a tease of that. I jumped to the microphone and said the line, “I saw it! It’s alive! It’s huge!” And one of the most amusing things is I had come home and someone on the web had taken that section and started to do an analysis on it and thought I said, “It was a lion.” The way I speak was too fast sometimes and they couldn’t make it out.
C’mon…I KNOW you are laughing your ass off right now.
Burky talks CLOVERFIELD
Monday, December 17th, 2007If there is one person outside of JJ Abrams that knows what the hell all this CLOVERFIELD business is all about - it would be Bryan Burk. And hey, look at that - SciFiWire figured that out, too! Read the interview HERE, taking special note of when JJ came up with the idea.
Here is one snippet from the article:
“It’s an entirely original story and monster,” Burk, a producing partner with Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams, said in an interview in November. “There’s no tie-in to any of our other projects quite yet. We’re obviously fans of the great monster movies. I remember when we were starting Lost, and we had references in it to all our favorite things, be it Jaws or Alien, and this feels like this is the same thing. I don’t think it feels like any other movie you have seen before, but we were definitely inspired by a lot of our favorite films.”
Ah yes, JJ and Co. are quite fond of the hommaging of their favorite movies. Also, for someone who HATES to do interviews, I think Burky does a fine job in this one.
Is it 01-18-08 yet?
Some “Star Trek” movie details
Monday, December 17th, 2007SciFiWire interviewed Bob Orci, co-writer of the forthcoming new Star Trek movie, and managed to squeeze a few details out of him. Nothing I would consider very spoilery, but he does give some interesting info about the development of the story they chose to tell.
Oh, and I take his “Next, Next Generation” comment as an Alias shoutout - any Marshall lovers in the EPM audience will get why ![]()
